Meet Ms. Johnson
Hi, I'm Ms. Johnson and I am the STEM Coordinator/Technology Integration Specialist, and also the Mentor Coordinator for my school district. I have two amazing daughters. Some things I like to do in my free time are work in my yard, read (real books on paper), learn about science and technology, and take walks. If I won a million dollars, I would...still teach because I LOVE it! I had a goal to get a Masters Degree in Educational Technology. Now that I checked that off the list, my eyes are set on a PhD. You should never stop learning-education is a gift!
I come from a family of educators and was thrilled to follow in the footsteps of my father and grandfather, to become a school teacher. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, a field in which I served families and children for several years. I received my Teaching Certification from Governor's State University when I decided to change the direction of my career and have the capacity to continue to serve families in a positive way.
One of my favorite things to do is share with other teachers how to integrate STEM across their curriculum, especially technology. Writing and leading workshops and trainings are the best. Did you know teachers have light bulb moments too! My "Why" I do any of this...I firmly believe that the key to breaking the cycle of poverty is education. Every student deserves to have mentors who believe in them. So whether I'm showing kindergartners a 3-D printer, training teachers on the engineering design process, or convincing an administrator that the research shows the need to fund a stem club...it is all to give students opportunities for a life of health, wellness, security, and confidence.
